Green I.D.

red russian kale is one of my all-time favorites.  i love to add it to almost any dish.  throw it in a quiche, salad, casserole, make chips, stir fry, steam it... the list goes on...
purslane is a wild edible that is good raw.  sometimes i cut it up and put dressing on it by itself!  i've seen recipes for tabbouleh that call for purslane.
wood sorrel     a sour flavored wild edible.
great in salads or as a raw snack.  some make soups or put it on fish!

It's Pick-Up Time!

Our first CSA pick-up is right around the corner!  Here's a little preview of what's to come...

Our perennial herbs are looking beautiful and robust.  Keep your eye out for fresh thyme & oregano.  We've also got three tasty and distinct varieties of mint that make great tea, hot or cold.

We got an early start on basil this year and we're already harvesting it by the handful!  We're looking forward to a whole season of this aromatic herb.

One goal we have for market this year is to bring flowers every week.  They really brighten up a table.  Through my work with flowers for the CSA last year, I've really grown to love them!

peas are growing!
We have been steadily gaining members for a couple months.  And there are still spots left!!!  We'd love it if you joined our CSA, too!

Elisabeth and Camilla and I get together every Monday and Wednesday to spend some time on the land and with the seeds and seedlings.  I've been appreciating the bird-songs more this year than any other.

Yesterday we planted onions and kale into the ground from flats started back in April.  We fed them with composted manure and smelly compost tea made from stinging nettle and comfrey.
